 Ballard Brand Box Z

the man behind it all Grandpa Ballard

Gus' first horseride

I had to take a picture of Kyle's cactus infested pants hanging on the cabin. Remember THIS POST? haha

Gus had his first experience of branding at the Ballard Ranch and he loved every second of it. Well, except for the moment that a calf charged at us and stepped on Great Grandpa Ballard's foot and I screamed. Once the men get back to the ranch after collecting all of the cattle they separate the calf's between the two families then we brand ours in a little coral and they brand theirs in a big open coral. Well, once we got them in the little coral one of the calf's got excited and charged at us and needless to say I screamed and scared Gus half to death, Brandy got a little up close and personal with me at the same time. It was pretty funny and scary. Kyle wore his best cowboy getup this time, but Dirk and Kade Ballard still found something to tease him about. One year he wore shorts and skater shoes out there and they teased him the entire time, and they even branded his leg (he still has a scar). He learned his lesson that year and hasn't worn shorts since. It is quite fun watching the true cowboys bring in the cattle and rope the calf's.
Me and Gus ran the Spooktacular 5k earlier this same morning so I was a witchy runner, it was a blast. That is why this random witch picture is on here!

GUS

I have been eyeing these leaves the last few weeks. We went on a family walk on Sunday so I snapped some shots of the boy. Don't mind the yucky Jets jersey Kyle made him wear and the fact that it doesn't match his church pants:)

Gus decided he was cool enough to put his hand to his cheek and relax

Conference and Cowboy

Gus was having a hard time listening to conference which made it hard for me to listen. So I made a conference hut by using all of our couches and a lot of our blankets. Gus loved playing underneath it and I loved laying there listening to the talks without him whining!

After Conference on Sunday we went to my sisters house and Gus listened to Skyler's ipod, and we made conference crepes, and relaxed.

My sister's went to Disneyland last weekend we got to watch their dog Cowboy. Gus really really likes Cowboy, when I would pick cowboy up in my car and put him in the backseat with Gus he would laugh the entire ride home. Poor Cowboy couldn't escape the many loves Gus gave him. Gus just loves him. Of course the one night Gus decides to sleep through the night Cowboy decides to wake up at 3:30 am and wouldn't go back to bed so I ended up driving him home and putting him in my sisters backyard! They brought Gus back his first set of ears. I can't wait to take him to Disneyland!

I wanted to show off my retro 1981 St. George Marathon shirt I bought at the marathon expo. Ain't it a beauty! These are more shots of conference Sunday

Wilson Visit

A rare moment captured. Kyle sat long enough and was patient long enough for all of the kids to climb all over him!

Wilson's came to visit and Gus loved every minute of their visit as you can see!

Phone Picture September Edition

Only in Virgin will you find goats that have escaped. One of the goats were pregnant and you could see the baby kicking inside its belly. This was on our 20 miler training run for the marathon.

This picture is for Adam, but you can't tell why. I took it because the lake was very calm and beautiful one day while Kyle and I were doing the Sand Hollow bike loop. I wanted to make him envious of the place we live! My phone didn't quite capture what I was hoping it would

Poor Gus was sick a couple of months ago with the flu. I took this picture because this is the only time this boy will cuddle and sleep on me. He loves his teddy so much as you can see.

Early morning run starting in Zion, but this might be Rockville

Another early morning run shot this is the mountain between Rockville and Virgin
