Poolside

Some boys started the hill behind my sisters house on fire last week with their fireworks. It was pretty intense, and of course we drove to her house to see it up close. Luckily, the firefighters had it under control so no houses were damaged!

We went to the Veyo Pool and boy was it fun! It is a natural warm spring pool (perfect temperature), they have zip lining, craw dad fishing, and food there. The food looked delish too, especially the onion rings

Weekend of Pioneer Day

Gus has been loving his tractors, cars, trucks a lot lately!
Saturday morning started early for me. I went on a long run (8miles) with Andrea Stratton at 5:30 am. Kyle and I stayed up way too late the night before watching gtl it always sucks us in. I didn't want to wake up when my alarm went off. When I got home we walked down to the 24th of July parade. It was pretty epic and we got lots of candy, I felt bad for all of the kids in the parade they didn't get any candy. Next year we should throw candy to the little ones on the floats.

love Gus' face in the below picture. Obviously he was pretty impressed by something in the parade
we went swimming later that day
then went to dinner with the newly engaged couple. Shawn and Abby

this lesbo went with us.
Sunday I made apple crisp and we played games at my sisters house. Pretty sunset as we were leaving with Jackson and Kason's silhouettes.

It's signing time

Gus started to sign bird a couple of weeks ago and I finally caught him on video.

project

This is part of Miss Macy's birthday present. It is a reversible apron, with a detachable flower so it can be washed:) Gus loves it, and Kyle wasn't thrilled I made Gus try it on. I had to though, I just traced an apron I had as a kid and wanted to make sure it was the right size. Hopefully it fits miss macy!

WWF Camping Kolob

We had one of our scheduled WWF camping trips on Friday night.

we watched ice age 3
on a giant sheet movie screen
the kiddos played with the fire, roamed the hillside, and found cool sticks
kyle tried to keep Gus happy
the boys thought they were cody and dave from dual survivor, so they refused to start the fire with a match. Eventually, they failed (after almost an hour of trying). It was a good attempt men!
Naomi trying to keep Gus happy
Kason and Kinlee trying to keep Gus happy
Gus loved watching the fire
I even tried to keep Gus happy
but guess what, No one could make Gus happy. So I went home with Danny and Leslie at midnight and Kyle stayed on the mtn;) After many attempts to make Gus happy and put him to bed he wasn't having it. Our neighbor/Gus' Dr. stopped by on Sunday to check him out and we found out why he was so unhappy. The poor kid has an ear infection, and just imagine how he felt when we went higher in elevation. He threw up again on Saturday so we had to miss a much anticipated birthday party for his g friend Macy.
We had a great time camping, we both decided 8 months is a little early for camping.

Zion with friends

Went to Zion with a childhood friend and her cute kiddos. We ate sandwiches under the huge tree at the lodge then walked to the river. Poor Gus didn't like the river, or he was just really tired. Onjali and I have been friends since kindergarten maybe before that I just can't remember that far back:) It was so good to visit and play with her cute kids. She takes amazing photos, you can check her out at onjaliphotography.blogspot.com.

this was me last year at this time

Gusbert is 8 months today! Poor kid has been sick all day. When I lay him in bed at night he will usually cry anywhere from 1-20 minutes then go to sleep. Last night when I laid him down, his cry was different. Real tears coming down, and a scream beyond screams. So after 15 minutes I went back in, I know you aren't supposed to do this, but his cry was so different. I tried everything to get him to sleep, we even went on a late night drive. He fussed the entire drive, which is unusual as well. Well, this morning we got up I fed him and gave him his antacid medicine, then I decided to pull some weeds outside. I put him on a blanket outside with me with some books to look at and a few minutes later I looked up at him and he had a pile of puke by/on him and all over the books. Then a few moments later he started projectile vomiting. He has a fever and has puked 1 more time since the outside incident. So I canceled my work appointments for the day and have just tried to comfort him all day. This will be his first sickness, poor little boy.

Well on a happier note these are some things the little man has been up to this past month.
-he is army crawling (I have yet to get a good video of it)
-he got two teeth on the bottom
-he goes to bed between 8-9 and wakes up at 5-6 to eat then wakes up for the day at 8
-he takes 2 naps a day
-he is trying to sign bird (it may be the cutest thing ever)

Safety For The Soul

My beautiful cousin Tami got married Saturday to a wonderful guy named Dustin Terry. We were lucky enough to be invited to the sealing at the St. George Temple. Elder Holland is Dustin's uncle so he made plans to seal the couple. It was a beautiful ceremony and Elder Holland talked for almost an hour and a half giving Tami and Dustin advice, but really he helped everyone in the room better understand the meaning of the temple. He is a very kind and funny man, one of the first things he said was, "In the words of Yogi Bear, we are glad you two made this moment necessary." We all started laughing. There wasn't a dry eye in the room during most of the wedding. We were able to shake his hand afterwards, we were surprised to see him at the luncheon as well.

The above video is one of Kyle's favorite conference talks. He has watched or listened to it probably a couple dozen times. Elder Holland is one of our favorite apostles to listen to during conference. It is amazing the feeling I got during the sealing and when I shook his hand. It is a moment I will never forget.

I don't have any pictures of the wedding but as soon as I do you bet you will see them:)

all my friends know the low rider

We met up with our friends the Funderburks at the Cedar City July Jamboree. They had their Packard and 36 or 37 Ford (Kyle doesn't remember the year) there. Cedar City closes main street and there is a car show and tons of vendors. It was a blast, perfect weather (love Cedar's temp in the summer). The Packard has hydraulics and it brought out Kyle's old low rider days. Gus' first kiss with Macy happened, and he met another cute girl named Pheobe.

Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?

Gus stole the cookies from the cookie bowl. I made cookies the other day. I turned around to put the cookies in the oven and the little cookie monster stole the scooper.

choo choo

we had a late flight on Tuesday so Summer, the twins, and Noah were able to take us to Old Town Sac. Our first stop was a really neat train museum. The kiddos were in heaven and Kyle, Kyle and Noah climbed on almost every train and touched almost every button they could. It made me want to take a train trip somewhere like the old days. We even got to climb aboard a couple of them it was pretty neat. After the train museum we walked the streets of old town, it has cobblestone roads and some really old buildings with cute shops. Thanks for the fun trip Wilsons!
