eyes

Everyone always comments on how big Gus' eyes are. Now I know what they are talking about. Minus the snotty nose;)

Gus' Friends

Gus' has some pretty great friends. Caitlyn watches Gus while Kyle and I go on bike rides and he just loves her. Kinlee is basically his second mom, sometimes he prefers to go to her than me.

I walked outside and found the two neighbor boys playing in the construction mess. They were having a blast and apparently they both forgot to change out of their nice clothes to play in the mud. It just reminded me of what Gus is going to be like in a year or two! A few moments after this picture I saw the Brayden scurry home, he was being summoned by his parents.

Ba

Gus' current favorite toy and first thing he says when he wakes up. "Ba", I bought some at the store to send to some of his friends and never got around to doing it, so I have eight balls in the living room that keep Gus entertained for hours.

oh you fancy, huh

below: Gus loves the mud and Sunday he made a mess in it. I like to let him play in it sometimes for sensory reasons, he was pretty mad I didn't let him continue making a mess of himself.
We went on a shopping trip with our friends the Funderburks. We traveled to Vegas so we could go to H&M mostly.  Our first stop was Raising Cane's for lunch, the chicken is really moist but nothing to write home about.
My main priority for shopping was Gus. Gus has no pants or clothes for winter so I needed to purchase some. H&M is usually a hit and miss for me, but Saturday it was a hit. Got Gus lots of clothes for the winter months. He is such a tiny little thing, he still has a shirt that is 2-4 months that he wears, and the shorts in the above picture are 3-6 months! I never know what size to get him because of his little bod. Vegas was so much fun, after I get out of the H&M at The Forum Shops I always have sensory overload. I feel so old saying this, but literally the music is too loud. I feel that on the kids levels they should turn it down a hundred decibels.

By dinner we were all spent, we ate at Cheesecake Factory in Green Valley. Gus was unbelievably good the entire trip. I was kinda stressing but he did really well all day long it helped having cute little Macy to keep him entertained.

Cutest Home For Sale

Our friends from Cedar City are selling their home. It is so cute, I almost thought about selling ours and moving to Cedar.
So if you are looking for a really really cute house in Cedar buy this one.

Bath Time

10 days of not posting about Gus is pretty dang hard. Luckily, I downloaded this cute video of the boy playing in the bath. He loves bath time, he crawls from one end of the tub to the other, back and forth back and forth. He also loves to make a great big mess by splashing water everywhere. Love little moments like this with my boy.

The date with the most work and my favorite of all! Kyle posted this when we first started this blog a couple of years ago, I think he describes the event very well. Thanks for the last 10 years of fun dates and last 2 years of awesome marriage, you ROCK Kdiddy B!

For you that don't know this story here it is.....

Emily had wanted to run the Nike & Tiffany marathon in San Francisco for sometime. She had troubles getting in the year before because only about 20,000 runners get in, and around 40,000 apply. Knowing what I wanted to do, I called Nike before the sign up about a 11 months before the actual race and told them my story. They told me they would make sure she would be accepted, and would have there public relations department call me closer to the race.

About 2 months before the race I was contacted my Michelle Woo an awesome person from Nike's pr group. She was so excited about my plans and wanted to help anyway she could. From there, Michelle told her committee what I was doing and got it approved. The only stipulation was that Emily had to be decked out in Nike gear. I knew that would be difficult because she used Asics shoes exclusively. I told Michelle I'd do my best.

I called Tiffany's in San Francisco and got her platinum Tiffanys setting ring on order about a monthy before. It is a sparkler.

When we got to San Francisco all I had to do, was get my tux. I managed to ditch Emily one day to go get measured, and had our hotel concierge pick it up for me . On the day of the race I got my tux on and headed to the race. I met up with Michelle and she handed my VIP passes for me and Emily. I went and hung out in the lounge and gorged on food for a couple hours. It was pretty posh, but I was nervous the entire time.

Emily running a marathon 2 weeks prior was a little exhausted, so she took longer than expected. Me and the entire PR group were nervous she wasn't going to finish. When I finally saw her, the MC took over and announced that we had a special announcement. I stood in line with the San Francisco Firefighters with my tux on and my silver platter with a little blue box on it. When she crossed the line I stepped out and she saw me. She was completely shocked as was I. I was very nervous. There are 20,000 runners, imagine how many people are at the finish line. Anyways she said Yes, and here we are.

By far this is the most creative date
It was Valentines day 2002. I remember in the weeks prior he was feverishly trying to find ice skates.
Valentines day comes and when it gets dark he drives me to Kolob. It is snowy so we only get to the black canyon in his Corsica. We get out of the car and he blind folds me. I protested the whole time because snow is slippery of course. He mad me leave it on, and guides me through black canyon in the dark with a blind fold on. Black canyon isn't a short distance, I bet it was easily a mile walk. So we get to his destination and he made me keep the blindfold on while he went and did something. He comes back and lets me take off the blindfold. He led me to a little pond on Kolob that had iced over. The first thing I saw was the pond lit up by candles. He brought hot chocolate for us to drink, and then I realized why he was trying to find ice skates. I had mentioned to him a few times before this that I had always wanted to try ice skating, and the creative devil he was remembered this and planned this whole date for me. He found ice skates randomly from Brian Hadley. We sipped hot coco and tried ice skating on the candle lit pond.
Creative as a beast that Kyle is

Kyle over the years has become very patient with my running. We have gone to San Diego a couple of times for me to run the Rock n Roll Marathon there. One time my alarm didn't go off so I slept right through the dumb thing but that is another story all by itself. He was patient enough to let me run it the next year (2007), I brought Bub so I would wake up!
We both love spring training baseball. This is us in Vegas at a Cubs game in 2008. The year before we went with Matt Hirschi to Arizona for a full weekend of spring training. It is still one of my favorite dates.
This date weekend trumps them all though. San Fransisco will always have a special place in my heart. It was seriously such a fun weekend, and not even because he proposed this weekend (that added to it for sure), but everything about it brings smiles.

Summertime with Kyle is never dull. This is us 4th of July 2007.

Kyle and I have gone many places on dates over the years. We have been to a handful of Anaheim Angel baseball games, snowboarding, we have ran a half marathon together, we have gone to many (too many to count) concerts like the picture of us and some of his family after the Rolling Stones concert in Vegas. We went to Europe together, and have gone to numerous Cirque Du Solei shows on the strip. Sometimes I miss those days, but sharing our lives together forever with our little man trumps all of those "things"

Our first dance together was homecoming. Kyle missed school to go fishing (go figure) so he could catch a fish to ask me to homecoming. He led me on an anonymous hunt around town eventually leading me to the Peacock's Pond. I had to literally gut a fish to find out who asked me to the dance. yuck! He left a laminated card with his name on it inside the fish for me to find:)

This is one of the first pictures of Kyle and me together. It was 2000 and I went to Kolob with his family. He went to Bluesprings and caught this monstrous fish!

Kyle's creativity started before we actually started dating. I played soccer in high school and before every game he would bring me a Gatorade and a homemade card.

So this date Kyle reminded me of the other night. It is pretty hilarious when I think about it. This date goes back before we "officially" started dating and Kyle had a HUGE crush on me (so he says). He was driving his sweet Corsica (if you haven't seen the car it is his facebook profile pic pretty priceless) and every Friday night after home football games there was a dance. I don't remember the dance at all, but after the dance he told his mom (lied to her sorry linie) that he was driving Jed Lyon home. Background on Jed, so Jed lived in Toquerville which is 15 minutes from Hurricane and his mom always got mad at Kyle because he always had to take Jed home and no one else would. Back to the date, So with the extra 30 minutes Kyle scored by lying to his mom he tells me he will take me home. So I get in his car and he starts driving towards the baseball fields on the hill. I had no clue what he was up to. We get to the baseball fields and it is pitch black. He parks and I remember him saying "since I didn't get to dance with you at the dance I wanted to up here." We get out of the sweet Corsica leaving the doors open, and he made a mixed tape to dance to. (I am literally laughing out loud typing this right now) Remember those sweet mixed tapes we used to make? I remember making one by putting the tape player next to a radio and pressing record on songs I liked. haha Anyways, so we danced to some Journey and then he took me home. This was way before we started dating. He just told me I was SWEET. Yes Kyle you were and still are sweet, just a little more original back then.

she did it

She did it! Abby and Shawn got married. It was such a pretty ceremony, with some great food and a live band. Now their happily ever after can begin.

We went out to eat ALOT when we were first dating.
Our favorite places to go were The Painted Pony and the Cosmopolitan.
The Cosmopolitan is a little restaurant in Leeds, Chef Imi was the chef, he now runs the Orchid Restaurant on Bluff. We haven't been there yet.
Anyways, for Valentines day they do a special five course meal. We always talked about going during the V-day or they also have a seafood night that Summer told us about. Kyle surprised me by taking me on Valentines day in 2008.
It was seriously the best food I have ever eaten. They had a harpist there, and gave every girl a long stemmed rose. It was seriously such a fun and delicious evening!

So our next date takes us to Kolob. He waited until there was a full moon then took me night fishing.  I remember it being pretty scary in a rickety old aluminum boat on a big scary lake. We used glow sticks at the end of the line (I think tied to the bobber thing) so we would know when we got a hit. It was very beautiful and fun though.
I think his inspiration came from this song.

10

welp, since this year would mark 10 years of dating for Kyle and me, and our anniversary is in 10 days, I decided to dedicate the next ten days to remember some of the awesome and creative dates Kyle took me on. Notice how I said took me on, once he won me over the creativity diminished a little.

The first date that comes to mind involves paper airplanes and the St. George airport. One night Kyle picked me up and we drove to the St. George airport, if you don't know it is on top of Dixie Hill. Well, he took me to a part where you can look over the edge and we made paper airplanes and spray painted them with glow in the dark paint. We threw airplanes off the side of the mountain and watched airplanes fly over us. I remember the glow in the dark paint not working very well because the surrounding lights were too bright. I also remember not seeing a lot of airplanes fly over us. It was such a fun date, and there are many more creative dates to come in the next 9 days!!
