Gus Birthday Video

NOVEMBER 2014

November 2014:
What a month. Gusboy turned the big number 4! He wanted a buck, snail, frog cake so that is exactly what he got. Lucky kid. He was spoiled rotten by everyone. We got him an awesome marshmallow bow and arrow, we have had a lot of fun with it. Gus shares his birthday with Aunt Marylu so we took her to my sisters coffee shop for breakfast. On his birthday it was windy so we had to wait to take him on his helicopter ride until the next day. I told Kyle he had to go, I was scared to go. Gus loved it, it was only a 5-7 minute ride and was pretty cheap. It was well worth the money after seeing his face when they got off the helicopter. He had an amazing birthday and he is surrounded by amazing family and friends who love him tremendously.

We traveled to Salt Lake 2 weekends in a row for Nicholas' playoff football games. The first weekend we took both boys, showed them the capital building and the Temple, then the next we wanted to get our Christmas shopping done so we brought Gus up with us, left Oliver with Grandma Linie, then Gus went home with my brother Dusty. Pretty sure they were both spoiled while they were with them. Gus got to hold fitz (their cute dog) the entire drive home. Gus told me he put his blanket over his head so no one would see him sleeping. He comes up with some interesting ideas. Oliver was sick the entire time for Grandma, poor Grandma and poor Ollie. Nicholas won the first weekend then for the State Championship they lost. Kyle couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture with the trophy. They think they are pretty clever. We have not been to Salt Lake since Summer and Adam lived there, we are talking 3 years. It was fun going up there, seeing the temple, eating at The Lion House, we also ate at a dodgy Indian place (India indian not Navajo) Rachelle recommended which was surprisingly really good. We had a long conversation with Marylu and Kelly while devouring yummy ice cream and chocolate and Hatch's. It was nice, we got the majority of our shopping for christmas done that weekend. Made everything less stressful for the holidays. We went to the DI in SLC and to this day I'm kicking myself, because there was the most awesome kitchen table, solid wood, pretty contemporary lines, it was perfect and really inexpensive. I wish we would have bought it.

Tyson got married in November in Moab! Kyle has been wanting to take us to Moab since he went with the scouts a few years ago, so we were thrilled Tyson and Veronica chose Moab (where she is from) to get married. It was a beautiful evening at a Ranch by the river. The boys walked down the isle. Before they started I told Gus to hold Oliver's hand, which he did the entire time. I was so proud of him for taking care of his little brother like that. I pray everyday that they will always be good friends, and grow up to be leaders together. Most days I wonder if that will ever happen, but then I see little moments like them walking down the isle and Gus taking care of him, that  I think maybe just maybe my prayers will be answered. Moab was a blast. We hiked to Delicate Arch which was a jaw dropper, we went to Horeshoe bend, We drove over the La Salles (where we found snow to throw at everyone), it was a perfect weekend. Moab has a huge sand hill, so one evening with Rachelle and Marker we stopped and ran up and down that sucker. Holy Moly my lungs were on fire. The pictures don't do it justice. It was very steep, and huge. Marker doesn't do sand (weird because he is a river guide) so he enjoyed just watching us get sand in every crevice. I still dream of that sand hill. Imagine having one in your backyard. My boys would be in heaven, and so would the neighbors cats. We did more but my mind is drawing a blank, what I get for not updating every month.

Gus is in Joy School, so once a month I teach 4 little boys. I have decided I don't like it at all. I don't think I will do it again. It's hard, and I rarely feel like I'm teaching them anything. We do a lot of science experiments, because that is when they act the best and they think its awesome. I agree the science part of joy school is pretty amazing.
