Carlsbad Day 3 and 4

 25 Weeks

Our home away from home we found on vrbo. Loved it! 1 block from the village and 1 block from the beach, and less than a hotel room!

Our last full day in Carlsbad was a day you don't want to end. We woke up early and went to the Oceanside Pier, then we shopped in Carlsbad, then Gus had a nap. After the nap we went to the beach, Kyle boogie boarded (a ton), Gus found cool rocks on the beach to bring home, and he finally was brave enough to swim with Kyle in the ocean. It was so warm just a perfect day, Gus was so happy there. After the beach we hurried and showered then went back to Fish 101, then we found the most perfect beach right at sunset. I wish we would have found it two days prior, although it was nice just walking to the beach when we wanted to. Lecadia State Beach Grand View was our favorite beach for memories sake. Gus' hair was crazy curly in California it was fun seeing how curly it went, it is curly at home too, but these curls were unreal.
The next day we decided to get an early start on the road and head for home.

Carlsbad Day 2

Carlsbad day 2. Everyone besides our family and Kip and Ali were leaving at noon today so we made one last excursion to the beach. It was an awesome morning, foggy and misty until 11 or so. Adam and Kyle body surfed like they were teenagers the entire time, and when they weren't doing that they were building sand castles together. How cute. Grandpa almost got his toes wet. lol. The kids ran their little hearts out the entire morning. After Gus' nap we decided to explore Carlsbad Village. The cottage we were staying at was one block over from Carlsbad Village way so we just strapped Gus in the Bob and explored all of the shops. Then we decided to drive down the coast to explore the towns there. We found an awesome store called Seaweed and Gravel. We decided to turn around in Leucadia and try to find somewhere to eat. I was looking on Yelp and Fish 101 came up and we decided to go there. Either it was going to be a good restaurant with a bad name or a bad restaurant with a bad name. Turns out it was the best place we ate there. We went back Wednesday night as well.

Carlsbad Day 1

Today was a beach day, and beach it up we did. Gus loved everything about the beach except when the sand got into his juice box or on his milk. The Ballard gang met up with us before they had lunch in the village. We hurried home so Kyle could shower and get ready before they all headed to the Chargers vs Broncos game. Before they left Kyle went to Boxd and got us sandwiches (hand crafted waffle sandwiches) before they took off. Everyone except Summer and her kidlets and me and my kidlet went to the game. Summer came to our place after she dropped Adam off at the game. I got pizza from the Pizza Port which was very very tasty, then we headed to the beach right as the sun was setting. The kids had fun, especially Ava and Noah. Gus was too cold to think about running in the water, and Grant didn't play in it as much as Ava and Noah did either. It started turning misty and foggy as the sun was setting and the temperature was kind of crisp, but the kidlets enjoyed it. We left when we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us. We got some cool photos from this little excursion.
