Instagram Update

We do this a lot these days! He loves loves loves playing with the hose, and being naked for that matter. If I take off his diaper and say if you need to pee go to the grass and pee not on the sidewalk... He will walk his cute little naked bum over to the grass and pee when he needs to. Does this mean he is ready to be potty trained?

 Banana Bread Pancakes. Yum!
 Ready for church

Kyle got himself a fancy new tent I think the brand is Springbar or something.  You would have thought he won a million bucks or something. He couldn't wait to set it up in the backyard. Gus lasted until midnight and refused to go to sleep so we ended up inside while Kinlee and Kyle remained under the stars.

Watching Cars. The only movie Gus lasts longer then 10 minutes for.

The Hurricane Hill started on fire AGAIN! It seems to be a yearly thing.

Gus likes reading books to himself these days. Today it sounded like balatabbafwaba.

Nutellaville

This little boys latest food obsessions are Nutella (as evidenced by his messy face) and edamame! He is getting less and less picky, but some days he won't eat anything. So frustrating!!!!! At least he will shovel handfuls of edamame's in his mouth. My sister has family talk flashcards and we picked one the other day that asked if you named your city after your favorite food what would it be called. Mine would be called Nutellaville as of late.

she's my cherry pie

above is the famous cherry pitter

The never ending cherry bowl all started with the above cherry pie I made on Sunday. Kyle said it was the best pie he has ever eaten. I highly doubt that statement. We took a couple of slices to Dustin Dayley who let us pick his cherries. Dustin ends up telling Kyle that he might as well go pick more cherries. Do you see where this is heading. I get home on Monday and there are numerous bowls filled with cherries. So I was put to the task of bottling cherry pie filling. I told Kyle it took me 30 minutes on Sunday to pit 4 cups of cherries, and there is no way I could pit 36 cups of cherries in one evening. So when he was in Stg. he picked up the neatest kitchen tool ever. The cherry pitter (I don't know what it is really called), I was able to pit 36 cups of cherries in 30-45 minutes. Cherry pie filling is really pretty easy to bottle, just takes time like everything.

H*A*W*A*I*I day 11

Hawaii Day 11. We had to fly out at eleven, but we couldn't leave this beautiful isle without a stop at our favorite place to eat. They have the yummiest banana pancakes!! We met a couple on our honeymoon who told us this cafe is a must stop. I have tried recreating these pancakes, but they don't come close to tip top's.

Food Blog

My very creative friend gave me the idea to start a food blog. Her food blog is pretty awesome, and I will not be as creative as her. I was typing my recipes into shutterfly, but now I am just going to do the blog thing. I wasn't going to share mainly because I didn't think it was that cool of a blog. I have been getting raft from my sil's for not sharing so here. enjoy.
It is...

Super

Aren't Gus' new clothes just soooo cute! I especially like the newsies hat:)

Below is what I made for Superbowl Sunday. It is an English Trifle and it is to die for. Kyle had it at our friends house and hasn't stopped talking about it. Now I know why...

This is what Kyle made. Chalupas and churizo. They were pretty darn good.

snickerdoodles

for Leesha: sorry so late I spaced it

Cookie Ingredients
2 3/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup butter
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla

Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In mixing bowl combine butter and sugar. Beat until well blended (I beat for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy). Add eggs and vanilla beat until combined. Slowly add flour mixture and beat on low just until combined.

Roll into balls and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes

Yum

Chilli's Chicken Enchilada Soup
  1. 1 Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a large pot over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add chicken breasts to pot and brown for 4-5 minutes per side.
  3. 3 Set chicken aside.
  4. 4 Add onions and garlic to pot and sauté over medium heat for about 2 minutes, or until onions begin to become translucent.
  5. 5 Add chicken broth.
  6. 6 Combine masa harina with 2 cups of water in a medium bowl and whisk until blended.
  7. 7 Add masa mixture to pot with onions, garlic and broth.
  8. 8 Add remaining water, enchilada sauce, cheese and spices to pot and bring mixture to a boil.
  9. 9 Shred the chicken into small, bite-size pieces and add it to the pot.
  10. 10 Reduce heat and simmer soup for 30-40 minutes or until thick.
  11. 11 Serve soup in cups or bowls, and garnish with shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled corn tortilla chips, and pico de gallo.
**The soup was extra thick so I just added more water to thin it a little. I used green enchilada sauce, I think red would have tasted better. Turned out super yummy!

New Year Kisses

Whilst going through some boxes of mine at the madres house I found this cake stand that I got from my Grandma Cannon after she passed away. Kyle thought we NEEDED a beautiful cake to put on it. I think he was right, this cake is soooo scrumptious. RECIPE

I had two pretty cute boys to kiss on New Years! We went to the Barney's to play some intense games and eat lots of yummy food. We retreated to our house at 11:30 pm and rang in the new year here. Gus wanted to party so we stayed up until 2:30 am together:)

dOnUTs

Below are the beautiful donuts. They were the best we have made yet. They looked and tasted sooooo good.

Kyle did the frying, well everything except make the dough.
This is our Christmas present and our mode of transportation for delivering donuts. I just love my B.O.B stroller it's amazing.
Cute little Mindee and Marshall

We made donuts again this year. I guess it is our little tradition now. I told Kyle last year that it is a lot of work and I didn't think I wanted to make them. He didn't listen and now he realizes just how long it takes. I made the dough at 8:30 am we let it raise till 12:30 or 1. Then we rolled and cut the donuts out and let them raise 30 more minutes. Then the next 5 hours we were frying them and dipping. It took all day, but they were delicious. My good friend Mindee stopped by with her adorable Marshall and her husband Mark. Marshall and Gus needed to meet officially I think they will be good friends:)

Peach Fuzz

Gleaning at the church farm was a hit. I was cursing Kyle and myself for picking so many peaches. We picked two big coolers and a big black garbage bag full of peaches, and I was sick of peeling them after 4 or 5 hours. I dried 2-3 gallons, froze 4-5 gallons, and bottled 7 quarts and 12 pints (approximately). My cute little mammy taught me how to be a pioneer and bottle since I have never done it before. It was much easier then making apricot jam that is for sure. She was telling me she would bottle 100 quarts a day, my response was I would shoot myself before I did that. I think the peach fuzz was getting to me, that sounds a little drastic now that I am all done with those darn peaches. I learned a few lessons in doing this, run hot water over peaches to get the peel off easier, when drying the peaches cut in half then cut the half in thirds. I cut mine too thin and lets just say one full dryer down the drain because I couldn't scrape the peach off of the dryer. Don't put picked peaches in big black garbage bag, they just all mush together and you end up ruining a ton. Don't pick so many next year!

Apricots Anyone

I think Kyle and I picked 30 pounds or more of apricots. The church farm opened up for families to come pick and boy did we pick. Kyle was kind enough, since it was his idea to pick them, to help me pit and puree the beauties. We got 8 gallons of puree out of the apricots we picked. They were very tasty, I can't wait to make jam when the weather is below 110 degrees outside!!

The Husband Can Cook

So the husband and I decided he would cook once a week, but after this meal I think it really should be more often. Linnie taught him well! I have never had whole artichokes before this, and now I think they are my new favorites.
yep, that is straight good for the heart butter to dip the artochoke in. Don't judge, it was well worth the calories. At least we were eating somewhat healthy;)
