We decided for the Memorial Day weekend we would take Gus to meet a couple of his namesakes. First, we went to the St. George cemetery to see Augustus Poore Hardy's grave. He was the first sherrif in St. George. We really like his headstone.
Augustus Kyle at Augustus Poore Hardy's grave
The Hardy House is in Ancestor Square, right next to the Pasta Factory. We have never noticed this plaque before, read the story on the plaque it is quite interesting!
Then we drove to the Toquerville cemetery to visit his other namesake.
Augustus Kyle at Augustus E. Dodge's grave
Gus was quite enthralled by the flag. Augustus E. Dodge was part of the Mormon Battalion. The circular plaque Gus is sitting by is behind Augustus E. Dodge's headstone, and states he was in the Mormon Battalion.
i think my favorite augustus is augustus kyle. he's pretty darn cute.
