the moment we have all been waiting for

My sweet older brother got married Saturday in Springdale. Brooke looked amazing like always, and Maddox was a stud muffin in his outfit! Gus on the other hand was not a happy camper. We woke him up just 30 minutes into his nap to get ready and it was all down hill from there. Poor kid was so tired, the moment we put him in his carseat to leave he fell asleep. The Whiptail Grill catered the food they had chicken and beef tacos, spaghetti squash enchiladas and a yummy salad. For dessert there were cupcakes, lemon bars. sugar cookies, mini pecan, apple, and berry pies. Lets just say I had one of each and leave it at that;) Chance is such a sweet older brother and I have never seen him happier. Their little family is something to look up to!!

sleep rituals

I have two stuffed animals that I keep in Gus' crib. They sit on the bottom of his bed, yet after every nap and in the morning he is surrounded by them. This particular day he chose to snuggle his bear we named Waldo.

progress

His cute tiny fingers are getting more and more coordinated everyday!

New Trick

This little monster decided he was ready to start sitting up by himself in his bead. Time to lower his mattress I guess...

my little fish

We took a break from wedding preparations to bask in the hot sun! Brooke's mom and dad have a pool in stg so we took full advantage of it. Maddox and Gus had a blast and we got some good rays of sunshine:)

Metric Century

Kdiddy did a 67 mile bike ride a couple of weekends ago. He told me he would probably just do the Sand Hollow Loop with the group then come home, but he ended up doing the Sand Hollow loop then going to Springdale and back to Hurricane. He is quite the bike rider these days.

Gus got his first haircut today. Tenny was a gem and worked us in during her lunch break. Sweetheart I would say yes! Things started out great Gus was smiling and laughing then he progressively got himself all out of sorts. Tenny earned her money towards the end. I love the picture of Gus looking up at her like, what in the heck are you doing to me:)

happy first father's day

Kyle and Gus after Kyle rode his first metric century (67 mile) bike ride. More on that to come...

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy in the whole world.
Gus just loves when Kyle gets home from work. I will say dadada when I hear Kyle's truck (yes you can hear the loud thing from inside) come home, and Gus starts to go crazy. Kyle will come in and immediately scoop Gus up and start playing with him. We both love him to pieces!

15 down 20 to go

Kyle got a road bike FINALLY. I say finally because he has wanted one lets just say forever. I borrowed my sister's bike Saturday and he took me on the loop he does 4-5 times a week. It is a 22 mile loop that starts at our house, goes around Sand Hollow, past Brentwood (scary I know, North side territory), then goes down the new road I think it is 600 north. The new road isn't just flat it has 2 ginormous hills. I thought I was going to die, and my butt was oh so very sore! I should have worn biking shorts like Kyle's. I am so glad he has found a workout he enjoys. He is down 15 pounds in just four short weeks and still eats a bowl of ice cream almost every night! It only takes him 80-90 minutes to do the loop, with me it took him 120 minutes:/

projects

I know what you are thinking chevron stripes are so trendy right now, but I had to do it. This is a door that leads to a tiny shed in our car port. I finished painting the car port the new gray we picked out, and the door just needed something. Pretty crazy, but I kinda like it!

My mom gave me this cool old window over a year and I am now just getting to it. I put the three hooks (from Shelbie via an anthro gift card thanks again) on the bottom, then stapled chicken wire over the glass part. I have needed a place for my jewelery since we got married, and this is the perfect place. I haven't wanted to buy any jewelery because I have had no where to store it, but no longer is that an excuse my friends! Look at all of the room I have for new jewelery:)

messy, messy, messy

This is what Gus looks like when Daddy feeds him. Yikes!!

she's my cherry pie

above is the famous cherry pitter

The never ending cherry bowl all started with the above cherry pie I made on Sunday. Kyle said it was the best pie he has ever eaten. I highly doubt that statement. We took a couple of slices to Dustin Dayley who let us pick his cherries. Dustin ends up telling Kyle that he might as well go pick more cherries. Do you see where this is heading. I get home on Monday and there are numerous bowls filled with cherries. So I was put to the task of bottling cherry pie filling. I told Kyle it took me 30 minutes on Sunday to pit 4 cups of cherries, and there is no way I could pit 36 cups of cherries in one evening. So when he was in Stg. he picked up the neatest kitchen tool ever. The cherry pitter (I don't know what it is really called), I was able to pit 36 cups of cherries in 30-45 minutes. Cherry pie filling is really pretty easy to bottle, just takes time like everything.

little bugger

Don't mind my yucky fingernails, I was pitting cherries for a cherry pie and they dyed my fingernail beds yucky red/brown:/

Here is the little bugger that is giving Gus all sorts of troubles. He has been clingy and needy all week, I just thought it was another phase he was going through. Then Saturday when we were at dinner in Springdale, I put my finger in his mouth and lo and behold there was a tooth poking out.

Troop 358

from left to right: Arthur Lebaron, Kyle, Kyler Brisk, Ethan Lebaron, Calin Gubler, Kyson Spendlove, Anderton, Austen Beatty, Hunter Reynolds. Front and center is Deloy Emmett

Kyle was gone all week for his high adventure scout camp. They went to Entrada (by Moab) and did some adventurous things. They mountain biked, went river rafting down the Colorado (the river is the highest it has been since the 30's), hiked to delicate arch (above picture), went to Cove Fort, and lots more I just can't remember and the little boy is sleeping right now from all his adventures.

7 Months

My little 7 month monster
Is rolling like crazy. I put him on my bed the other morning while I had a quick shower. I surrounded him with pillows and his favorite toy, then I heard a thud. Yep, he rolled right off our bed onto the wood floor. Luckily our bed is on the floor so the fall was short, and he only ended up with a tiny bruise on the right side of his forehead. I learned my lesson, no more leaving his squirmy butt on our bed alone.
Is teething, AND his first tooth broke through yesterday. His bottom right tooth came through. Yipee:)
Is loving food, all kinds. He no longer dislikes squash or bananas! I hope he continues to love vegetables and fruits.
Is sleeping okay. He goes to bed and 8:30 or 9. Wakes up 45 minutes later (why, I have no idea), then he will wake up again in between 12-2 and 5-6. Not awful, but not ideal either. I am just enjoying these moments because I know he will one day be all grown up.
Is waking up for the day at 8 or 8:30, then will have a nap at 10:30 and another nap at 2 or 3.
Is still loving little kids, all the neighbor kids come to play and entertain him. He loves it.
Is still loving ribbon. I will give him strips of ribbon and he will suck and play with it for the longest time.
Is loving books and paper.
Is my favorite thing in the whole world:)

Replay

Gus loves it when Kyle sticks out his tongue he tries to grab it or suck on it, keeps him entertained for a long while.

Yep we went swimming again. This time with the Barney girls. We swam for almost two hours, at one point I asked Kyle if we should go, and he said he wasn't even wrinkled so it wasn't time.

Splish Splash

Oh I just love that little miss Macy. We had Funder Welding and his family come over for a little swim the other night. Andy showed us some sweet moves off the diving board, and Nicole's back dive was epic. I stole the first few pics off of their blog, thanks Nicole:)
