January 2015. Morning sickness continues. Bronchitis and pleurisy continue. We were still sick New Years Eve so we stayed at home. It was pretty pathetic we wanted to play board games, but realized the only little kid game we had was one we got from a kids meal at Chic Fil A. It was still fun but made me laugh. New Years day we ventured to Kolob to go snow tubing. Gus had a lot of fun, and he has been obsessing over ice skating and snow tubing. I think he saw it on Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood or something. Still to this day he tells me we didn't go ice skating during winter.
Gus got to go shooting at the shooting park with Grandpa Bruce, his dad, and Uncle Tyson. Tyson sent me that cute pic of Gus shooting with Kyle. Gus picked up every bullet shell so he had lots of treasures when he got home. Don't tell him, but I threw them all away the other day.
Kyle challenged Marker (Marcus) to see if he could climb up to one of the caves above his parents house. Being the rock climber he is we realized it was an easy task for him. Meg, Madi, Rachelle, Gus, Oliver, Kyle and I followed Marker up the hill. I stopped mid way and asked Gus if he wanted to stay with me but he wanted to continue on up. I should have made him stay, because Marker found skat inside the cave and Kyle wanted to see it so he told Marker to throw it down. Marker told the group to move over at least 4 times, but just as he was throwing the skat down Kyle stepped out and it nailed him right on top of the noggin and split it open. Gus saw the blood and started freaking out. So I hiked up the hill to grab him and help Kyle with the wound. Head wounds are always bleeders so I wasn't too concerned with it. kyle found a shirt in the hiking backpack and wound it around his head. His has a pretty awesome scar from it. I said this would only happen to Kyle. He has poor luck in that department.
We have 1 o'clock church now so we have 5 hours in the morning on Sunday to do nothing. So we went exploring one Sunday over by Sand Hollow. It was nice and relaxing to walk around in the sand and let the ninos get their wiggles out before church.
We took Grandpa Bruce to the golf course to hit golf balls one morning. Kyle found some mini golf clubs at the DI for Gus. He is already pretty darn good at connecting with the ball. I'm easily impressed though because my golfing skills are laughable. I rarely connect the club to the ball.
Another bobcat was caught during January, probably some coyotes as well. When the weather is nice Gus gets to go out with Kyle.
For Oliver and my birthdays we got to go to California and Disneyland. The morning we were supposed to go I woke up with the flu. Just my luck. I have been so sickly this pregnancy. I don't remember that with the other ones, but if a kid comes to joy school with a little cold I will get it no matter what a couple days later. Well, Bruce and Kyle gave me a blessing before we left and luckily I didn't throw up after that. The trip down Kyle was all on his own because this sickly preggo girl was no help. He handled it like a champ though. That night we had tickets to see the monster trucks at Angel Stadium, but in my condition I decided to stay at the hotel with Oliver while Kyle and Gus went. Gus says that night was the highlight of his trip. He absolutely loved it. He still talks about it to this day. The next day I felt tremendously better just no energy. It was Oliver's birthday. The cute little bugger turned 2! We went to see the Newport Temple, then tried to make it to sacrament next door, but we had just missed it, then we went to the beach. Oliver loved the beach, we found a ton of sea shells. Gus was a little apprehensive with the beach at first but warmed right up. It was 80 degrees that day which was perfect! We drove to Laguna beach then to Balboa. We ate at a yummy taco place in Laguna then relaxed on the laguna beach. Monday and Tuesday we did Disneyland. The Happiest Place on Earth. We lucked out again this year because it wasn't busy at all. We walked on to most of the rides, and the weather was perfect. We met the Funderburk's for this trip and enjoyed two days at DL with them. Kyle said we aren't going to Disneyland again for 5 years. I was feeling that way to by the 2nd day. We had season passes this year and we went 5 times. Every time you go you spend at least 10 hours in the park and every trip consists of at least 2 days so thats a whole lot of Disneyland packed into one year! I turned 31 Tuesday... I'm getting old as Kyle tells me. It's fun being in the magic kingdom on your birthday. Kyle and I were saying though that the workers weren't as friendly this time. I'm wondering if its the stress of the measles outbreak. The morning of my birthday before Disneyland opened we drove to Newport pier to look for sea shells and eat yummy donuts. I decided that next year if we do a trip for our birthdays its going to be relaxing at the beach looking for sea shells. That's my ideal birthday right there!
