Thanksgiving in Cambria

we drove the dreadful 9+ hours to cambria the Sunday before Thanksgiving and stayed a week. It was heavenly if you don't count the drive there and back. We were so excited to see the ocean that first morning we arrived. There is nothing quite like seeing the ocean and playing on the beach after being cooped in a car all day. We decided to drive 6 hours on Sunday, stay the night in Bakersfield, then drive the remaining 3 hours Monday morning. Bakersfield is sketchy but we stayed at a nice Marriott. Monday and Tuesday was full of the beach. We love looking for Moonstones and sea glass at Moonstone Beach (thats the beach a few blocks from the house) it is so addicting. No one was counting but I think I found the most blue pieces which are really rare. Kyle and I both were able to run a few mornings while we were there which was really nice. I love running in Cambria nothing can compare. In Cayukos there is an awesome swing set and a big slide (like the one hurricane city used to have at the park) I mean its a really big slide. I couldn't believe Gus dared go down alone. Kyle taught Gus to go down on his belly and the first time he did it he faced planted right into the dirt. It was awesome. We ate yummy smoked tuna sandwiches that night on the pier in Cayukos. Tuesday night the Wilsons arrived. dun. dun. dun… Gus was so excited to see them as were we. We showed them all of the hot spots in Cambria. We took them to look for Chocolate rocks on the beach, I was surprised as to how many they found. We tried crabbing off of the pier in San Simeon. We took them to Morro Bay and had yummy fish and chips. We saw the seals, had free salt water taffy. We went to Morro Rock? and played on the beach there. We took them to Cayucous beach to find sand dollars and play in the sand. We did handstands at the house. Aunt Summer is great at playing with the kiddos  and reading them books. Ollie loved uncle Adam. The kids dressed up and did the story of the indians and pilgrims. We ate really well every night they were there. Summer is a great cook. Thanksgiving was a feast and a half. We conquered that food and showed it who was boss. The old oven even held up to all of our cooking. Gus on Friday night started screaming, and his ear drum burst so we had an emergency trip to Morrow Bay to get numbing drops for his ears and an antibiotic. Thankfully we live across the street from his doctor. Bless Penny's heart. We were sad to have to part with the Wilson's it always so much fun getting together with them and talking until late in the evening whilst the kiddos sleep.

  1. What? That's all you have to say about our time together. I'll take that as you were speechless with how great it was to be with us for 4 days. Thanks again for letting us spend Thanksgiving with you guys. We loved it. (Those pics of me are NOT flattering - guess that's my own fault)
